Island Bay Squash Open 2025

Latest announcement from Mike, our Squash Captain!

Another year, another blockbuster Island Bay Open. Thanks again to Chris White of Renovations and Redesigns for sponsoring the tournament - your ongoing support is much appreciated.

This year we expanded our Open to 80 entries from our usual cap of 72 and while it did mean for a couple of later finishes on Friday and Saturday - I think everyone will agree that the extra entries resulted in some really tight divs due to the smaller points spread. I genuinely had no idea who would take out men's div 4 when I saw the draws! A huge shout out to those who travelled (from Palmy, New Plymouth, Gisborne and Auckland) - we hope it was worth coming down for!

Also, how good was the food by Otis and Theo of MelBrown Catering? Feel free to email them at melbrowncontact@gmail.com if you'd be interested in having them cater your events or tournaments!

The squash ranged from top-tier all the way to downright terrifying with the match between David Watling and Teone Hemopo being described by multiple people as one of the most "entertaining" matches they'd watched in a long time - although no one quite knows how both players came off court still alive Call your lets lads!

The weekend also saw the end of Nathan Jay Morgan's 100% success rate with Island Bay spot prizes - hopefully you still keep coming back though

As always, it was a pleasure hosting you all at this year's Open and we look forward to hosting you again at the Labour Weekend One Day Tourney and the Island Bay Doubles later this year.
