Facilities at Island Bay

Club Bar

Members and guests can enjoy our onsite bar offering craft beers, wines, and delicious snacks at great prices.

Games and activities

Alongside our main facilities—three squash and tennis courts—we offer table tennis, a practice hitting wall, and indoor games for kids. These are all available to our members and to those hiring our venue.

Function space

Our large event space includes a kitchen (oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave), bar access, restrooms, changing rooms, comfy seating, a sound system, table tennis and a dart board!

Hitting wall

With thanks to generous contributions from our club members and the wider Island Bay community, there is a practice wall behind court two. A key feature during lessons, this is bookable via Hello Club.

Club kitchen

Our complete kitchen, equipped with an oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge, is available to prepare meals for members and their guests.

Tennis courts

We have three outdoor tennis courts which can be included in hireage. These are well-maintained courts, with scoring boards on each court. We also have spare racquets and balls for use at the club.

Squash Courts

We have three indoor squash courts which can be included in hireage.

Terms and Conditions of Hire

Hire Fee & Conditions

A hire fee of $350 per function is required. This is due at least 2 weeks prior to function.

This hire fee entitles the hirer to the use of the facilities requested (function space, bar, kitchen, squash and tennis courts as discussed) and is for a maximum of one day.

All guests at the function must have vacated the IBTSC facilities by midnight (12:00am).

An optional $100 cleaning charge can be arranged, or hirer self-cleaning is required. Bond may be deducted, at the Club Manager’s discretion, if cleaning post-function is not adequate. The cleaning must be undertaken within 12 hours of a function.

$83 Wellington City Council Special license fee for all non-member functions to ensure compliance with Liquor License.

A refundable bond of $500 is required from the hirer at time of booking.

Island Bay Tennis & Squash Club Bar

Upon request, the club may be able to provide bar staff to support the function. This is strictly on a case-by-case basis.

The cost associated with this, if supplied, is $250 per function, for a single bar server or $400 for two bar servers.

Use of these facilities is guided by The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and specific terms will need to be agreed to at time of booking.

General Notes

The club has capacity for 120 people.

The IBTSC is a non-smoking club. There is currently a smoking area out the front door, but people are not allowed to smoke on the deck or inside the facility

Food is not supplied by the Club. Hirers are responsible for organising catering or can self-cater. There is a kitchen available for use in the Club.

No alcohol is permitted on the courts.

Tennis racquets, squash racquets and balls are available for use.
